Atleti could bring advantage to Stamford Bridge

What a day. First semifinal match of 2013/2014 UEFA Champions League. Four best European clubs remained in competition and Atletico faces Chelsea today at Vicente Calderon.

It is a meeting of two physically powerful team who are tactically very disciplined. It is not surprising considering that the coaches are Diego Simeone on one, and Jose Mourinho on other side. Sometimes you can hear predictions that it will be closed meeting with little opportunity to score but I do not personally agree with it.

Atletico often breaks the opponent’s defense with high pace and furiously threaten keeper while Chelsea with quality transformation can easily find a good opportunity to score a goal. Chelsea is especially strong from set pieces. So, it would not be surprising to see tonight goal or two on either side.

Head-to-head statistics show equal quality. These two teams have met thrice and Chelsea have better score for only one goal.

When it comes to this season, the numbers are also similar on both sides, but the Atletico scored four goals more than the London team.
