At the end of first half Stadium of Light exploded as hosts take the lead. Larsson whips in a free-kick to the back post, Wes Brown gets totally free at the back post to put it back across goal and Phil Bardsley stabs it in, but the Welshman came last and it is an own goal from Ryan Giggs.
Seven minutes into second half Manchester equalised. Nemanja Vidic wins with a towering header at the back post to thump in a leveller after corner kick from Cleverley.
Sunderland was again into lead in 64th minute. Another big goal from Fabio Borini, steps up to smash the spot-kick high into the roof of the net and put Sunderland back ahead.
Manchester still have chance to reach the Final in second leg at Old Trafford and Sunderland will have to fought hard to defend this lead.
